The most widespread baobab of Madagascar, occuring in south, west and northwest. 5 to 30m tall, usually single trunk, cylindrical or slightly tapering and swelling. Primary branches often tapering and ascending. Bark grey. Flowers yellow. Fruit ovoid or oblong, 10 to 30cm, usually black. Germination phanerocotylar.

I bought an Adansonia za from you about 6-7 years ago. I am still as thrilled as the day I received it! I have a vegetable garden in my backyard and keep it in a raised bed, right with my lettuce, kale, and other vegetables during the growing season, in hummus from my compost pile. Come the chill of the fall, I pull it out, trim off the roots and store it completely dry during the winter, in a closet. No pot, no light, no water. It is beautiful to see it come back for me each Spring! Thank you
